Fall Fab 5 Book Battle at Lemieux’s Orchard
By: Melanie Smith, Principal of Williams Elementary School
Our school had the BEST kick off event for our Fall Fab Five Book Battle with a field trip to Lemieux’s Orchard on September 16th. Students heard two of the five books read aloud by their teachers while at the orchard. The two books read aloud were Harlem Grown and Cesaria Feels the Beat. Students had a blast participating in a variety of activities while at the orchard. Everyone in attendance had a blast tackling the corn maze, going on a tour of the facility with Debra Lemieux, going on wagon rides with Richard Lemieux, picking a bag of apples, and students also had an opportunity to play a fun game with Mr. Coan! We were so thankful to have so many family members join us for this special field trip. We could not have asked for a more beautiful day.
Over the next couple of weeks, students will hear Mr. Parisi read The Seed of Compassion, our new library tech read Margaret’s Unicorn, and Mrs. Smith and Mrs. Solis read Lost and Found Cat. All students will then vote for their fall favorite. The winner will be announced at an upcoming fall Be the Light assembly and then our entire school community will take a fall walk on Messalonskee Middle and High School Trail.
