Building Knowledge Around April 8th’s Solar Eclipse
By: Principal Smith, Williams Elementary School
Over the past week I’ve had the pleasure of visiting our classrooms at WES to read, “A Few Beautiful Minutes: Experiencing a Solar Eclipse.” Together, we’ve discussed the differences between solar and lunar eclipses. We also looked at the path of totality maps for the U.S. as well as the state of Maine.
WES collected cardboard tubes to use for a special solar eclipse project! Our art teacher, Mr. Clark, and third grade teacher, Mrs. Charest, helped our students create their own sun viewers out of the recycled materials to build background knowledge before April 8th’s eclipse. #WeAreRSU18 #WESproud18
