Fabulous in Fifth: A 5th Grade Update
After an amazing author visit with Jennifer Richard Jacobson last month, the grade 5 team started Paper Things as a read-aloud. The book has led to some wonderful conversations around facing challenges, standing up for what you believe in, solving problems, and homelessness. For their next read-aloud, they will be sharing one of the Global read-aloud selections, A Rover’s Story, which will be connected with the Virtual Destination Mars Missions presented by the Challenger Learning Center of Maine with connections to NASA! The grade 5 team also participated in the Costumes for a Cause parade and collected coins for the World of Change Truck. They received a wonderful donation of coins that had been collected by Mrs. Barry’s students on Team Boothbay at the Middle School. This November, the students on the fifth grade team have been exploring latitude and longitude and have been participating in a grid problem solving game outside on the playground! #WeAreRSU18 #WESproud18
