Maggie Solis Named Maine’s 2026 Assistant Principal of the Year
The Maine Principals’ Association (MPA) is pleased to announce that Maggie
Solis, Assistant Principal of Williams Elementary School in Oakland, has been named Maine’s
National Outstanding Assistant Principal of the Year. She will be honored by the MPA at its
annual Night of Excellence in May.
Maggie Solis has been named Maine’s 2026 National Outstanding Assistant Principal of the
Year in recognition of her outstanding leadership, deep commitment to students, and profound
impact on the Williams Elementary School community. Her work reflects excellence across all
aspects of school life, from instructional leadership to family and community engagement, and
her passion is evident in the positive culture she helps foster each day.
Dr. Holly Blair, Executive Director of the Maine Principals’ Association (MPA), praised Mrs.
Solis’ dedication, stating, “The MPA is proud to recognize Maggie Solis for her instructional
leadership, administrative excellence, and for being a driving force behind the positive and
inclusive culture at Williams Elementary School.”
Superintendent of Schools Andrew Carlton added, “Mrs. Solis has been instrumental in fostering
a positive and rigorous learning environment at Williams Elementary. Her leadership is
characterized by deep empathy, strategic thinking, and a tireless commitment to the success of
every student and staff member.”
Mrs. Solis earned her Bachelor’s degree in Early Childhood Education (Birth–Grade 3 and
Birth–Grade 5) from the University of Maine at Farmington in 2010. She went on to earn her
Master’s degree in Educational Leadership and Administration from the University of New
England in 2015.
She began her career in the RSU #18 School District in 2015 as a kindergarten teacher at
Atwood Primary School. In 2022, she transitioned into administration as the Dean of Students at
Williams Elementary School, a position she continues to hold with distinction.
Mrs. Solis is an active member of the Maine Principals’ Association (MPA) and the National
Association of Elementary School Principals (NAESP).
The Maine Principals’ Association is a professional organization representing Maine’s PreK–12
educational leaders. Established in 1921, the Association is dedicated to advancing educational
leadership and administering interscholastic activities in grades 9–12.
